Group Discussions Concerning Politics or Religion Always Turn Out the Same

Journey to enlightenment

A journey into the unknown. Open new avenues in your spiritual journey. Learning outside the box.

Written by Gary Wonning

I have been a part of many group discussions and regardless of how they are structured, they become biased and opinionated.

Most people come , not to learn anything, but to strengthen their own beliefs.

I find that most who want to think outside the box trip over the cardboard and never go beyond a certain self imposed limit. There is a limit to what they are willing to believe or consider and not willing to go beyond that.

That’s OK, spiritual growth can be slow and painful.

I recently began attending one such discussion lead by a church here in town, a church that was purportedly open to new ways of thinking.  After a very short time, I soon discovered that I was the only one with my particular view, either religious or political.

They weren’t really open to ways of thinking that didn’t conform to their particular beliefs. I had t change the way I thought about continuing attending the meetings.

I began going with the attitude that even though no one really agreed with me, I was open for debate. After all the purpose I came was to gain a different point of view and learn something in the process.

After a few meetings it was pretty obvious that my thoughts didn’t matter. Whenever I decided to chime in with a different thought I was immediately interrupted and the subject was changed, when someone offered a viewpoint that was a similar to what everyone else was thinking, the point would be discussed.

Most people don’t want to think outside their comfort zone. It hurts to much, not only a physical hurt, but it hurts their ego also.

I have been outside my comfort zone so much, I don’t even know what my comfort zone is anymore.

I did hear different points of view, but what I became aware of more than anything else is that  people come to these events, not to learn anything new but to reinforce their believe and to try and force their beliefs, many times unconsciously, down other peoples throats.

Sorry, but listening to what they think and believe only reinforces what I know and believe.

I came, I listened , I saw, I have learned.

Going to these meetings, I discovered we will never agree on what we believe, but they give me a lot of information to write about , and a new perspective and understanding of what I believe.

He has studied the Mayan culture of Central America and the aborigines of

Australia. Photography has given him the opportunity to observe life in various parts of the world.

He has observed that many of the forgotten cultures had spiritual beliefs that were stronger than ours in modern times.

In technology, we have made advances far superior to those that came before us, but, we have lagged behind in gaining or maintaining our spiritual knowledge.

For us to advance as the human race, we need to combine the spiritual knowledge of those that came before us, not only that of the ancients but the knowledge of our direct ancestors as well, with the technical knowledge we have today for us to propel into the twenty-first century and beyond.

Clinton Meets the Pope

Clinton Meets the Pope

During his visit to the United States the Pope met with President Clinton. Instead of just an hour as scheduled, the meeting went on for two days.

Finally, a weary President Clinton emerged to face the waiting news media. The President was smiling and announced the summit was a resounding success.

He said he and the Pope agreed on 80% of the matters they discussed.

Then Mr. Clinton declared he was going home to the White House to be with his family.

A few minutes later the Pope came out to make his statement.

He looked tired, discouraged and was practically in tears. Sadly he announced
his meeting with the President was a failure.

Incredulous, one reporter asked, “But your Holiness, President Clinton just announced the summit was a great success and the two of you agreed on 80% of the items discussed”.

Exasperated, the Pope answered, “Yes, but we were talking about the Ten Commandments.”

The Future Is Now

photo of a distinguished older gentleman

Wisdom lost through the ages, common sense is no longer common.

Written by Gary Wonning

I remember standing out in my front yard as a child one evening, I was probably about five or six years old.

At the time I lived in southern Indiana and looking towards the east, I saw Washington D.C. going up in flames. I hardly knew what Washington D.C. was, I had heard it was our nation’s capital, but being as young as I was I didn’t realize what the city stood for.

I just knew our government was in trouble and it seemed as if it was a few years after the turn of the 21st century. It seemed to be really troubling times.

This was about 1950, so it seemed really far off, and I pretty much forgot about it.

Several years later, in the late 80s, I had an opportunity to speak with a very knowledgeable and intuitive lady. Someone who should have been famous, but wasn’t.

She gave me the same information about the coming turmoil, repeating what I had heard in my youth.

I listened to what she had said, but it never really registered how bad it could get, we had just survived the protests of the sixties, how much worse could it be?

She said there would be much rioting and discontent, but it would be confined to the major cities and if we stayed out of them we would be fine.

She said the problems would come from the way the majority of our children had been raised after the sixties, the permissiveness and lack of control many parents had over their kids, and the way American society had forgotten what had made us great.

photo of a distinguished older gentleman

Wisdom lost through the ages, common sense is no longer common.

Soon after that, I went to a motivational seminar, where Zig Ziglar was speaking, he said the same things, I still didn’t heed the warnings.

Most of us were raised in a different world, we were busier than a one-armed monkey at a flea festival. We raised our kids in that world, but somehow things changed and people forgot or didn’t think it was important to remember any more.

This is how most cultures decline and finally disappear, being taken over by a more barbaric society, until they no longer exist.

I took it with a grain of salt and went about my way as many others had done who had heard the same warnings, after all, our parents and grandparents had been saying the same thing for years, the world was going to hell in a handbasket.

Soon it was the turn of the century, and suddenly, the things I had seen and was told about began coming true.

It seemed chaos was everywhere, no self-control or discipline, no respect for the law, or others, profanity, everything that was right was wrong, and everything that was wrong was right.

Bad behavior became condoned and accepted, anyone who disagreed and remembered the values taught them at a younger age, were condemned and ridiculed.

Suddenly changing things back seemed about as difficult as scratching your ear with your elbow.

The world had been turned upside down, and all the problems of the world somehow seemed to be the fault of the United States.

You hear constantly on the media and from some politicians how horrible a place the United States is, how cruel we are to minorities, the disabled, etc.

I found during my travels, this is not the way the average person across the globe feels, that is only media and political rhetoric, designed to sell ads and garner votes by pandering to humanity’s basic trait, fear.

While in the outback of Australia, I got into a conversation with a nineteen-year-old girl from Switzerland, she couldn’t understand why I would travel somewhere besides America, she made the statement that if she lived in America, she would never leave, in her words,”America has everything a person could ever want or need.”

A few days later, we entered the tiny town of Daly Waters in the Northern Territory. They were celebrating the 4th of July, being appreciative of how the yanks saved them from the Japanese during WW2.

I’ve been on an Italian cruise ship with about 4000 passengers and only about 20% Americans, they sang our national anthem and everyone stood up placed their hands over their heart and sang, giving us a two-minute standing ovation when the song was completed.

Art Prints

Most thinking people appreciate and respect what America has done over the last 200 hundred plus years.

America has endured a lot, and I believe it has a manifest destiny. We would have never become a nation or survived without what George Washington would call, Divine Providence and Divine Intervention.

Fighting against impossible odds, he often gave credit to Divine Intervention for his successes.

Adhering to the basic tenets of our country, the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence and the Ten Commandments we have weathered the many storms that have befallen us.

Now we face a new challenge, maybe the most critical challenge in our history.

Before, the threat to our country has come from without, now it comes from within.

Many have forgotten what made us great as a country or no longer seem to think it is important.

They seem to believe they can do and think as they please, without regard to anyone or anything else.

We have lost our way.

As I soon discovered in my travels, everyone worships God in their own way, that is what our founders wanted, we have freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.

We have the God-given right to express our religious beliefs in public or anywhere we chose, not to force them on anyone, but to express them as we see fit, as long as it doesn’t harm someone else, and we respect what others feel, and not infringe on their space.

The Maya, Egyptians, and Aborigines of Australia were more in tune with their creator than we are today.

Many of the aborigines still are, even though some of them have become radicalized and developed an entitlement attitude because of what the Australian government has done to try and help them.

All three cultures have regressed, the Egyptians went from calling their leaders, Gods, To Pharaohs, then kings, and now presidents.

The Maya have all but disappeared as a culture, and the aborigines are slowly dying off and trying to adapt, in the process turning to drugs and alcohol.

I see the same thing in the United States, many here are also turning to drugs and alcohol because they no longer have a spiritual foundation to rely on.

We have a drug epidemic stretching from Times Square to the cornfields of Indiana.

In an area where the Friday night entertainment was a basketball game, now several people wind up in the hospital from a drug overdose. It happens weekly.

It doesn’t even make the news anymore, it’s not uncommon for the emts to run out of narcon.

Earlier this year, the morgue in Dayton Ohio ran out of room, an airline pilot for a major airline overdosed with his wife while their young child watched.

The list goes on and on, there seems to be no end to it.

The bad behavior, lack of respect, a sense of entitlement, profanity, and people sit at home watching mindless TV while ignoring their churches, social, fraternal and civic organizations.

In spite of it all, I still believe there are many good people out there, I think the majority of Americans still have their heads on straight, their voices get silenced and their cause doesn’t get good TV ratings or sell ads in your local paper.

Many are worried, they see what is going on and feel as helpless as a cow in quicksand.

Over the last several years, America has been fundamentally changed, because of negative influences from many politicians and the media, we have forgotten where we came from and what America once stood for.

But we really can’t blame anyone but ourselves, we could not have been fundamentally transformed if we hadn’t let it happen.

We stood by silently as our country was changed from within, no one or not many even said a word, and few noticed.

Some thought it was wonderful, thinking the world has changed and we need to just go along with the flow.

Many no longer adhere to the Wisdom of Our Ancestors, that knowledge that was once passed down from generation to generation, from time immemorial.

The very things we got so tired of hearing and we swore to never repeat to our descendants, we never wanted to sound like our parents, how wrong we were.

This is how great cultures rise and fall, they become great through their deeds and beliefs, they then reach a pinnacle and begin enjoying the fruits of their labor, allowing decadence to overcome their common sense, becoming a victim of and falling to their own success.

They forget about God and become focused on their own self-importance, until they once again fall into subjugation and poverty, completing the cycle, waiting for someone to save them while forgetting no one will save them if they don’t save themselves.

photo of shriner walking up masonic stairs

The Masonic Influence on World History

They forget the spirit of self-sufficiency and self-reliance that enabled them to become successful.

It came upon us slowly, most never even noticed, the stark reality came back to me just a few days ago when a high school friend I hadn’t seen in years remarked that he had noticed it several years ago.

He joined to Air Force out of high school, after he was discharged military service, when at one time it was an honor to serve in the military, and rightfully so, having military experience opened many employment doors and opportunities, he found it hard to get a job in the post Vietnam era if you had served in the military, and once they found you had been to Vietnam, the door closed permanently.

For many, this was the final straw, after having valiantly served and being spit on when coming home, they could now not find a job, our country did a great disservice.

Having finally found employment in the DC area, he began to notice the same people who had lead all the protests in the 60s were now getting high positions in the federal government.

And so it goes today, where once, a military background provided good training, respect, and many essential job skills, they are now looked upon as a detriment, and those in our nation’s government are the very ones who not only then, but now continue to try and bring down our nation.

Today, many have it all wrong, they continuously work to bring down a great nation who has done so much for so many. They continuously look for the negatives brought on by their own personal bad attitudes and a chip on their shoulders.

Many are so mad they could swallow a horned toad backward, but they have no idea what they are mad about.

If you ask them what they are protesting, they can’t tell you. They are just protesting.

Many are looking for personal gain and wealth, siding with those of like mind with an attitude they will somehow rule the world or change things for the better. Little do they realize, that if they form the world and our nation into what they deem a perfect world, they will be the first ones to be killed, and if they live, the world will not be what they had envisioned.

We all know how to fix this, regardless of what we have been told by the media and the left, this is still the greatest nation to have existed on the planet. Americans are still great caring people. Most of us still have a remembrance of the common sense and core values we grew up with, those values taught to us by our parents and elders.

Those values that are despised by those in the media and extremist groups.

If you have forgotten, all you need to do to remember is to read the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and the writings of our founding fathers.

Then look deep inside you, past all the things you have been lead to believe by others, look into your heart and you find your answer as to what you need to do,

All knowledge comes from within.

The future is now, it’s your decision as to how this all turns out.

Remember in 1960, Nikita Khrushchev stood before the UN, took off his shoe and beat it on the podium as he stated, ” your grandchildren will be raised as a communist. “

Seeing the Future : Our Country in Conflict

At an early age, about five or six, I remember standing in front of our farmhouse, looking east and seeing our nation’s capital in flames.

I was living in Indiana at the time, this was the early fifties and being quite young, I hardly knew what Washington D.C. was. I just knew that sometime in the future, which I perceived to be sometime around the turn of the century, about 2007 or 2008 I knew there would be much conflict, and freedom would hang in the balance.

At the time I never understood and even though it stuck in my mind, I never really thought too much about it.

Again, in the 1980s, I was reminded by a well-known psychic that the turn of the century would be a trying time for our nation. She said much of the conflict would arise from people not only not instilling common values in their children, but also, even though some of the children were raised correctly, many would stray from the path.

Even then, it didn’t really soak in what spirit was trying to tell me, she said I would be ok as long as I stayed out of the major cities.

The time is here, and I now understand, we, as a nation have done much to undermine our security and freedom. We have forgotten the values that made this country great. The only way to preserve our nation is to return to those principles that our country was founded on and lead our founders to establish the greatest country the world has even known.

The Benghazi Video

We all remember the uproar created when Hillary blamed the attack on our embassy in Benghazi on a UTube video.

Even though that wasn’t the cause of the attack, it created quite a roar, and many still believe it.

About a month after the 2016 election, My wife and I happened to be having dinner at a restaurant in Venice Florida with a friend and a couple of her friends.

I was sitting next to the gentleman and we were engaging in casual conversation when I by chance brought up the previous election.

I think I said the wrong thing, the man next to me exploded, “I wouldn’t vote for Hillary on a bet,  Obama and she tried to get me killed.”

Taken aback, I asked why.

It seems he had produced the original video, which was favorable to the Islamic religion. It had been edited by the young producer and changed to cast an unfavorable light on the Muslim people, this was the video the blame for the attacks was placed on.

As a result, this man had all the major networks calling his office, who in turn called him to discover what was going on, when in fact, he knew nothing.

Finally, the local sheriff gave him a visit and recommended he get out of the country for a while, which he did.

Even though he had nothing to do with the final production of the video and the video, in the end, had nothing to do with the Benghazi raid, his life and the life of his wife, and possibly even his employees was placed in grave danger.

All in the cause of politics and people in government having their own agenda, with little regard for anyone else or their safety.

Neighborhood Politics

Neighborhood Politics

During a neighborhood party here, I got into an argument with my neighbor about presidential politics.

Finally, he asked me why I was such a dedicated Republican.

I told him that my Father and Grandfather were Republicans before me and that I was carrying on the family tradition.

“That’s it ?” said my exasperated neighbor. “What if your Father and Grandfather had been horse thieves ?”

“Well…” I replied, “I suppose then I’d be in the other major political party with you.”

Illegal Immigration Isn’t A Victim-less Crime

Sometime ago, an illegal immigrant who had been deported eight times hit and killed a woman in Louisville Kentucky, leaving behind her son.

It so happens this woman and her son were recent immigrants from Cuba who came here legally.

How ironic, two people who immigrated to this country legally, completed all the paperwork and requirements to become a citizen were killed by someone who continuously broke the law, someone who our government continuously gave another chance by looking the other way.

Now this woman from Cuba is gone and she leaves behind a son who has no relatives in this country. What a shame.

By trying to give someone a break who didn’t deserve a break, a law abiding citizen is given a life sentence of grief they don’t deserve.

Did Divine Intervention Play A Part In the 2016 Election

A picture of the U.S. Capitol building

What has Government Done for You?

There have been many times divine intervention has played a part in the history of our country.

During the American Revolution, George Washington attested to it many times. In the early part of the war, a sudden and unexpected wind and fog kept the British ships from entering New York harbor at a critical time. If they had been able to land, they would have surely defeated our young inexperienced army.

General Washington prayed long and often and those prayers brought help in the nick of time many times over.

There were several times General Washington was shot at point blank and the bullets missed their target, several times he returned from battle untouched with bullet holes in his jacket.

Even the final battle at Yorktown, a strong wind kept the British Fleet from arriving in port with reinforcements.

In the war of 1812, a sudden storm provided rain which in turn prevented our government buildings from being completely destroyed by fire.

Likewise, there are stories from the Civil War and World War 2 of similar circumstances when all hope seemed to be lost when a sudden turn of events prevented sure defeat and turned it into victory.

Likewise, in the 2016 election, it seemed as if Hillary was cruising to a sure win, when suddenly, the tide turned and she was denied her victory. Although she won the popular vote, because of voters voting in strategically placed precincts, Trump was able to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat.

Just like General Washington, many people were praying for a major change in Washington, to continue down the present course would have meant sure destruction of our republic.

In today’s world the entitlement generations outnumber the working class, the only way for the election to be won by the conservatives was through the electoral college.

Did God once again intervene because of the prayers of well meaning people and once again save our great nation by prompting large numbers of voters in the correct precincts to go vote, and did he inspire Trump to realize the only way he could win was to campaign in the states where he could garner enough votes to win?

So, Where Do We Go From Here?

photo of the United states capitol building

What has government done for you?

Written By; Gary Wonning

The results of the 2016 election was quite a surprise for many. A lot of people thought Hillary had a free ticket to the white house because of her husband, her views and last but not least because she was a woman.

She was part of the establishment and because she had been involved in the political process for most of her life, she deserved it.

In America, we don’t elect people to the highest office in the land because they deserve it, they have to earn it.

Finally, people woke up and realized that career politicians were running our government and paid no attention to what the voters wanted, it was all about special interests and lobbyists.

No one knows what Trump will do, but at this point in time, the only option is to let time run its course and let him demonstrate by his actions. Talk is cheap.

Who knows, we may all have buyers remorse in a few months, but we knew what Hillary would do, and that wasn’t an option. We would have continued down the path to socialism or worse.

Having said that I think that Trump’s heart is in the right place and he does love America, it may be for his own selfish desires, but I don’t think so.

Many also thought the same about Obama and they turned out to be wrong, so we could be wrong this time, but at least the path to socialism and total control of our lives by government has, at least for a time been slowed.

What that provides us is an opportunity to take a breath and determine what our next actions should be.

We need to take action and do whatever we can to ensure we never get ourselves into this pickle again.

YOUR FAVORITE ONLINE POLITICAL STORE

Facing reality, we must realize that as much as we would like to, we can’t blame all of this on Obama. It has been coming to this for years. There are as many bad apples on the right side of the political aisle as there are on the left.

The politicians take many of their marching orders from big business, lobbyists, and the elites, but that doesn’t mean they don’t listen to their constituents.

They want to get reelected and the only way they can do that is to get your votes. When the general population expresses certain beliefs, the politicians will also chime in and agree with them., it is the only way for them to get reelected.

If the majority begins to express different opinions, the politicians will flip-flop immediately.

Who we elect are our representatives, not our leaders. They represent what we as a nation want.

Change our wants, we change our representatives.

Our nation has been in moral decline for years, many people no longer have the principles and values they were taught growing up, how can we expect our politicians to act in a decent manner when we don’t?

I feel this election has given us a chance to regroup and rechart our direction. God has given us another chance, are we going to blow it?

The Power Of One Person

photyo of teh book Liberty's secrets

The secrets our founders knew

Written By :Gary Wonning

I often hear how one person can’t make a difference.

So many times this is proven to not be true. There are many instances throughout history that indeed one person did make a difference. There are many times where the actions of one person has lead to a change in history and the course of human events.

Many times it begins on a smaller level and escalates because that action resulted in another person changing his thoughts and he or she also changes their actions and it keeps building until a new movement is created.

Recently, I have written several books and have been reluctant to promote them not knowing how good they really are.

While visiting Orlando, I happened to strike up a conversation with a gentleman who was selling timeshares in the hotel we were staying .

The conversation slowly drifted to the state of affairs we find our country in and I mentioned I had written a book about common sense and how people don’t seem to have it anymore.

A picture of the U.S. Capitol building

What has Government Done for You?

The longer the conversation  went on I realized I needed to give him a copy of my book,”Wisdom of Our Ancestors”.

Which I did, he opened it and read one small paragraph on respect and immediately loved it.

He was  appreciative of my gesture and praised the book I had written.

We thus began to talk more and more and I suddenly realized I had struck a nerve and need to pursue this course of action further. There are many people who feel as we do, we just need to support each other and in that way, we can change a nation.

JIm’s actions, as insignificant as they seemed at the time, may start a movement that can’t be stopped.
