What Would the Founding Fathers Do?

I have often heard it said by  various individuals they hoped if there was such a  thing as reincarnation, that the founding fathers would come back and save us from ourselves.

They did such a good job forming our country many think they should come back and straighten out the mess we’ve gotten ourselves into. .

What would you do if you were a founding father?

Would you come back to do it all again? Would you suffer through the hardships of Valley Forge, or endure the long hours spent hammering out a constitution and Bill of Rights that no one seems to care about anymore?

Would you  spend your fortunes, risk losing everything you have, subject your families to certain death and poverty as they once did?

Not me, if I had gone through what they did and sacrificed what they did, I would say, “no way Jose”.

I did it once, now it is your turn. I did my part, if you want freedom, it is your turn to step up to the plate and fight for it like we did. I would tell them what my parents told me when I messed up. “You were smart enough to get into this mess, I’m sure you are smart enough to get yourself out of it”

The Separation of Church and State

Many believe the separation of church and state is guaranteed in the constitution. If it’s in there, I haven’t found it.

But I have read the Declaration of Independence several times. The first few paragraphs of that sacred document I have posted below. Reading those lines, it becomes evident the founding fathers had no such thought to abandon our creator.  It specifically states our rights come from God, not government. There isn’t any other way to interpret it.

It clearly states the government works for us, we don’t work for them. At least that is the way  our government was designed.

The first few paragraphs of the Declaration of Independence:

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

From that statement, there can be no doubt as to how our founders felt.

I agree, we must keep politics out of religion, but we need God, not religion, in politics. If one professes a belief in God, it doesn’t mean they are promoting a religion. I believe generic prayers are fine, where the term “Heavenly Father”, “God”, “Creator” or something similar is used. Out of respect for other religions, Jesus or Allah or some other personality should not be used. 

Remember back in the day when politicians weren’t afraid to express their belief in God. The world wasn’t perfect, but it was a whole lot better place to live than today.

That was a day when God was important in people’s daily lives, a day when almost all government employees and elected officials were former military, they had a sense of duty and obligation, much of that has been lost. In fact, if you weren’t former military, your chances of getting a civil service job were slim.

People who forget or abandon God, at some time, will pay the consequences.

The Fourth of July 1776

July 4th, 1776 is one of the most important  days in human history. The signing of the American   Declaration of Independence, one of the most precious documents since the beginning of time ushered in a new Era in the history of man.

Never before had a nation been created where mankind could worship, believe, and act as he so desired as long as he didn’t infringe upon the rights of others.

As Americans, we sometimes forget how important this is and how much people from across the globe look up to us because of what we have done to preserve freedom over the centuries.

I never thought about it much until  three separate instances almost twenty years apart solidified this in my mind.

The first incident came about several years ago while traveling in the outback of Australia. We had been in the bush for over three weeks. After that amount of time, with little contact to the outside world, we had forgotten what day it was. Time really didn’t matter, one day just became the next.

We drove into the small town of Daly Waters in the Northern Territory about two in the afternoon. As we entered the tiny village I noticed an old C-47 aircraft parked on a deserted airstrip. I hardly noticed the aircraft had U.S. markings. Our destination was the tiny pub in the center of town. Daly Waters, with a population of seventeen saw over a hundred percent increase in population when we arrived, our bus carried twenty-four weary travelers.

Entering the pub, it was apparent there was a party going on. This was interesting, I knew it wasn’t the weekend yet, we were to be in Darwin on Saturday and since we weren’t in Darwin, it couldn’t be the weekend.                                                                                                                                                                    

Asking someone why they were partying, they said they were celebrating the 4th of July. We asked why they  were celebrating an American holiday. A loyal world two vet promptly replied.”We just appreciate what the yanks did for us during ww2. We were attacked by the Japanese and if it wasn’t for the Americans, Australia would have fallen”. I never realized.

The second event came about while we were cruising on an Italian cruise ship in November of 2014. The ship had over 2,700 passengers on board and probably less than 20% were Americans. It was unusual  to even hear English spoken. The night before our 2014 election the theater theme was Simply Italian. All the beautiful Italian songs were sung. Near the end of the program the vocalist began singing our national anthem.

People began to stand and sing, placing their hands over their heart.

 I looked around, everyone in the audience were standing. As the anthem came to an end America was giving at least a two minute standing ovation.

The third such instance took place just a few months later. I occasionally  shuttle people to the local airports. During one such ride I received a call asking if I would pick up someone at the Tampa airport that forgot to make a reservation. The car I was driving didn’t have any airport  stickers so it would be risky, the airport police frown upon this sort of activity.

Deciding I didn’t want this family stranded at the airport I decided to take a chance and pick them up.

I would just try and be incognito, stop at the curb, pick them up and be on my way before anyone saw me.

The plan was working  perfectly. They were in the car, luggage in the trunk and we are on the way.

Only problem. The trunk won’t stay latched. My cover is blown the curb side is jammed with people and with each closing more and more people are noticing the commotion.

A rather tall gentleman stepped forward and offered to duct tape my trunk shut. He wants to  tape the trunk of  a Lincoln Towncar shut with duct tape?

Thinking it wouldn’t work I said sure try it. As he began taping my passenger asked him where he was from as he had an accent. He replied Denmark.

Now wait, who flies from Denmark to Tampa with duct tape in their pocket. Is that legal? What does the TSA say about that?

The tape worked and as we started to pull away my passenger asked him what we owed him for helping. His response. Nothing, it’s the least I can do after the United States bailed us out of two world wars.

Never saw that coming!

In spite of what we are often told by the media and those who would want to destroy our country and turn it into a socialist nightmare, the United States is still that new Jerusalem, that shining city on the hill that most look to for guidance and leadership.

We currently see what happens to the world condition when America shirks its duty and let’s evil reign over the land.

We have a responsibility  to the rest of our world citizens, there isn’t any other country that can do it. It is the price we pay for living in the greatest country ever known to mankind. We sometimes overreach, but we are the world’s police force.

The rewards are great, and the consequences are disastrous if we fail in our mission.

There is an extreme shortage of common sense in today’s world, I often think back to what my parents and grandparents believed and said, at the time I thought they were totally out of their mind and ignored it. I now wish I would have listened and followed their advice more often.

The Greatest Threat to America

The biggest concern among thinking Americans today is the threat of terrorism, more  especially home grown terrorism.

While terrorism  is a major threat to our safety and wellbeing there is another threat even more dangerous.

We have become our own worst enemy. Our freedom and prosperity has created an environment  that promotes our own demise.

In our rush to create a society with many luxuries of life we have forgotten what is important .

While our technical  advances are unequaled in history, we have neglected our spiritual  foundation.

We are our own homegrown terrorists. We resort to drugs and alcohol so we don’t have to face up to who we are or the truth of our existence. Some statistics state 75% of the American population is on painkillers, and

People over 75 average being on at least 5 prescription drugs. This is alarming! Instead of relying on our inner guidance and natural healing when  did we begin to want quick cures that many times create more illnesses than they could ever cure?

Often times a little exercise and proper diet would alleviate an health issues we may have.

Instead of working on core issues and getting to the heart of the issue, we often pop a pill or illegal drug and think that will solve our problems . This only makes the problem worse, now, not only did we not solve the initial issue, we have become addicted to drugs and or alcohol.

Somewhere and somehow we have forgotten what is important in life.

I remember growing up, God and church was the foundation of our life. Everything centered around our religious values. People then, like now weren’t perfect, but they tried to live by a code of ethics instilled by their ancestors. Even the most ruthless individuals had a line they wouldn’t cross, even to them some behavior just wasn’t acceptable.

There was honor among thieves, now there is honor among no one, the only thing that matters is instant gratification and a feel good result.

Growing up there were very few people who didn’t go to church at least occasionally, now most don’t go and in many areas churches are closing.

Most no longer have anything to believe in, they have placed their trust in an unstable foundation, either fame, fortune, or drugs. When that foundation finally collapses and it will, there is no rock for them to lean on.

People are floundering aimlessly in life, worshiping one false prophet after another. Instead of going within for answers, they are seeking something outside themselves for gratification.

In this environment, can we wonder why our society has tumbled in decay like it has? Can we wonder why the Islamic faith is growing? For right or wrong,they haven’t abandoned their God, we have abandoned ours.

If and when we once again discover our true values and spiritual foundation, the threat of terrorism will be no more.

Prophecy: Key to the Future

The next series of prophecies come from the Mormons. They don’t bode well for the future of our country. Many of the Mormon leaders made a series of prophecies regarding the fate of the United States and the world, in general. I will try and keep it brief, but there is a LOT of information that needs to be presented.

In 1844, Joseph Smith was purported to have made the following prophecy:

“There will be two great political parties in this country. One will be called the Republican, and the other the Democrat party. These two parties will go to war and out of these two parties will spring another party which will be the Independent American Party. The United States will spend her strength ,and means warring in foreign lands until other nations will say, “Let’s divide up the lands of the United States”, then the people of the U. S. will unite and swear by the blood of their fore-fathers, that the land shall not be divided. Then the country will go to war, and they will fight until one half of the [U. S. army will give up, and the rest will continue to struggle. They will keep on until they are very ragged and discouraged, and almost ready to give up—when the boys from the mountains will rush forth in time to save the American Army from defeat and ruin. And they will say, ‘Brethren, we are glad you have come; give us men, henceforth, who can talk with God’. Then you will have friends, but you will save the country when it’s [sic] liberty hangs by a hair, as it were.”

He also stated that “there is a land beyond the Rocky Mountains that will be invaded by the heathen Chinese unless great care and protection are given.” (Prophecy: Key to the Future, Crowther, 1962)

This prophecy is interesting for several reasons. The Republican Party was not formally organized until 1854. There is no question that, ideologically, the Democrats and Republicans are at war. Neither party truly represents their constituents. Because of this the American Independent Party was formed in 1967. Its web site stated that this was because “…the leaders of the two existing parties…have deserted the principles and traditions of our nation’s founding fathers.”

Ever since WWII, the U.S. has been in dozens of wars and police actions. Since the end of WWII, there have been more than 100 types of police actions, including notable ones like Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Persian Gulf, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan. If this isn’t spending our strength and means warring in foreign lands, I don’t know what is.

Anyone who has kept abreast of current events knows what China is doing. They are actively working to crash the dollar and becoming more and more militarized. Recently, a Chinese navy vessel tried to force a U.S. missile cruiser to stop in international waters and a general from the PLA threatened to nuke the U.S.

In 1960, Ezra Taft Benson, 13th president of the Mormon Church and Secretary of Agriculture under Eisenhower, also voiced warning against “socialistic communism” and specifically against the Chinese communists. He said that “there is little doubt that the leaders of Red China view war as inevitable and await only the propitious moment in which to strike.”

Would the Chinese invade the west coast if the opportunity presented itself? Obama is doing his level best to gut the military and bring in socialism. He’s doing everything he can to turn this country into a welfare society by following the Cloward-Piven strategy. Without question, our economy will collapse and riots will ensue when welfare recipients can’t use their EBT cards. What do you think the Chinese will think when they see this happening? What do you think the Russians will do?

Another thing to point out regarding Smith’s prophecy was the part about the army asking that men be sent to them, men “who can talk to God.” When you look at what the Dear Leader is doing to our military, you can see why this was stated. Obama is systematically purging the military of Christians – men who can talk to God. Any officer or NCO who doesn’t go along with Obama’s agenda is either being retired and/or persecuted under bogus, trumped up charges and driven from the military. Evangelical Christians have been specifically named by DHS and the military as potential terrorists.

Smith also stated in this and other prophecies that the U.S. Constitution would hang by a thread. With “progressives,” i.e., socialists/communists in power, there has been a systematic attack upon the Constitution. They are perverting, distorting and outright ignoring both the letter of the Constitution and its intent.

Obama is trying to have freedom of speech limited by the “Shield Law” introduced in the Senate. This law will specifically state who is considered a journalist and would exclude the alternative media. Freedom of religion is also under attack through Obamacare and forcing business owners to serve homosexuals against their conscience. One wedding cake baker is being threatened with a 12-month jail term if he refuses a court order to make a wedding cake for two homosexuals.

The 2nd Amendment is under attack in spite of the intent of the framers of the Constitution. This also is in spite of statistics that show that those states with the strictest gun laws have the highest violent crime. However, the 2nd Amendment, while it is for personal self-defence, was primarily intended to fight tyranny by the government. The Dear Leader knows this, but, again, in spite of him being a “constitutional scholar,” he ignores reality. The right against self-incrimination and right to unlawful search and seizure have been gutted by the Supremes.

I’d say that our Constitution is hanging by a thread.

From another early Mormon leader, Orson Pratt, is a prophecy regarding a second civil war that will be unlike other civil wars. This war would not be with two distinct factions fighting against each other. It would be a number of what appears to be mob actions, a series of civil wars.

“Do you wish me to describe it? I will do so. It will be a war of neighborhood against neighborhood, city against city, town against town, county against county, state against state, and they will go forth destroying and being destroyed and manufacturing will, in a great measure, cease, for a time, among the American nation. Why? Because in these terrible wars, they will not be privileged to manufacture, there will be too much bloodshed—too much mobocracy—too much going forth in bands and destroying and pillaging the land to suffer people to pursue any local vocation with any degree of safety. What will become of millions of the farmers upon that land? They will leave their farms and they will remain uncultivated, and they will flee before the ravaging armies from place to place; and thus will they go forth burning and pillaging the whole country.” (Journal of Discourses 20:151)

“The time will come when there will be no safety in carrying on the peaceable pursuits of farming or agriculture. But these will be neglected, and the people will think themselves well off if they can flee from city to city, from town to town and escape with their lives.” (Journal of Discourses 12:344)

What do you think will happen when the government is unable to continue its welfare subsidies? What happens when the stock market crashes? The Cloward-Piven strategy that is being followed by the Dear Leader is designed to crash the government as we know it. Unfortunately, I think it’s going to do more than just crash it as we know it with consequences these liberals can never foresee.

This was also foretold and reiterated by other Mormon leaders in the following statements:

“I have seen the end of this nation and it is terrible. I will tell you in the name of the Lord that a secret band will sap the life of this nation.” (Moses Thatcher, 1882)

“And do not think that these usurpations, intimidations, and impositions are being done to us through inadvertence or mistake; The whole course is deliberately planned and carried out; its purpose is to destroy the Constitution and our constitutional government; then to bring chaos, out of which the new Statism with its slavery is to arise, with a cruel, relentless, selfish, ambitious crew in the saddle, riding hard with whip and spur, a red-shrouded band of night riders for despotism.” (J. Reuben Clark, Jr., 1949)

“Concerning the United States, the Lord revealed to his prophets that its greatest threat would be a vast, worldwide ‘secret combination’ (conspiracy) which would not only threaten the United States but also seek to ‘overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations…’” (Ezra Taft Benson, 1961)

“The time will come when the banks in every nation will fail and only two places will be safe where people can deposit their gold and treasures…. A terrible revolution will take place in the land of America, such as has never been seen before; for the land will be literally left without a supreme government. And every species of wickedness will run rampant. Father will be against son, and son against father, mother against daughter, and daughter against mother. The most terrible scenes of murder and bloodshed and rapine that have ever been looked upon will take place. Peace will be taken from the earth and there will be no peace only in the Rocky Mountains. This will cause many hundreds and thousands of the honest in heart to gather there; not because they would be saints (Mormons) but for safety and because they would not take up the sword against their neighbor.” (Joseph Smith, 1843)

“It seemed though I was above the earth, and look­ing down upon it. As I passed along upon my way east I saw the road full of people, mostly women, with just what they could carry in bundles on their backs, trav­eling to the moun­tains on foot. I won­dered how they would get through with such a small pack on their backs. It was re­markable to us[?] that there were so few men among them. It didn’t seem to me as though the cars were run­ning, the rails looked rusty and the roads aban­doned; and I have no con­ception of how I traveled as I looked down upon the peo­ple.” (John Taylor, 1877)

The Mormons have consistently warned against a secret conspiracy that would take hold in the latter days. This conspiracy would threaten, not only the freedom of the United States, but, eventually the entire world. These predictions began surfacing in the 1830’s and have continued to this day. Socialism/communism has generally been identified as the perceived threat. All you need to do is look to the progressives in the government, the news outlets and Hollywood to see that this is true.

About the only positive thing about these prophecies is that they are ended by another prophecy that the good people who flock to the mountains will preserve the Constitution as it was originally intended. Not by how a bunch of progressives wish to twist it. It won’t be just by the Mormons, but all those good people. They will re-establish a government as was originally intended by the Founding Fathers. All of this is to immediately precede the Second Coming.

There are a lot more of these prophecies, but it’s interesting that so much of what was written is coming true or is poised to come true. Much of what I’ve researched comes from the book, “Prophecy: Key to the Future” by Duane Crowther. All anyone needs to do is simply pay attention to current events. What is happening to our country and the world is so obvious…to anyone but a liberal.

America’s Friends on the World Scene

Sometimes there is a moment in time that defines one’s thoughts for the rest of your life. These moments come suddenly and often pass before we realize what just happened.

One such event occurred the evening of November 3rd,2014 the night before the 2014 elections.

We were cruising on the MSC Divina, an Italian cruise ship, along with approximately 3700 other passengers.

An international cruise, Americans were definitely in the minority.  It was rare to even hear anyone speaking English. I would guess there were only about 30% of the passengers who were Americans.

The entertainment for the evening in the theater was to be Simply Italian. A program featuring all the popular songs of Italy.

To say the Italians are proud of their culture and country would be an understatement.

Near the end of the program, the vocalist suddenly began singing “The Star Spangled Banner.”

I looked around and most people seemed to be puzzled.

Suddenly one person stood up and placed her hand over her heart. Then another, and another. I turned and looked around the auditorium.

There were probably close to 1,500 people in the theater, all were standing. Everyone had their hand over their heart and singing our national anthem. Italians, South Americans, people from India, the middle east, and Europe all joined the singing.

As the song drew to a close, the standing ovation must have gone on for over two minutes.

Among the Americans, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

For the next few days, every American on board I talked with was appreciative of what had happened. Most had a small tear in their eye while discussing it.

This event refreshed my memory to a similar instance several years ago.

I was traveling in the outback of Australia, and since I had been mostly isolated from society for almost a month, I had forgotten what day it was.

Traveling with a group of tourists in a small bus of twenty-five, including the fair skinned, freckle-faced, redheaded, Irish, Aborigine, driver, we entered the small town of Daly Waters in the Northern Territory. We more than doubled the population since the official population of the small village was only seventeen. I just did some research on the village, it now boasts a population of 18, so they gained one!

As we entered the town, we passed a small abandoned airfield with a C-47 parked at the end of the runway. I thought it interesting that the aircraft had U.S. markings on it.

As we entered the pub, it was full of people celebrating, far more people than the seventeen that lived there.

It was the middle of the week and the middle of the day, so we inquired as to what the celebration was all about.

One older bloke replies,”It’s the fourth of July, and we are celebrating and appreciate what the United States did for us during WW2.”

I hadn’t known this, but Japan actually attacked Australia, Darwin in particular. The air base in Daly Waters defended the area and help prevent more attacks from the enemy.

In spite of the fact that the Aussie’s are always looking for a reason to party and have a good time, there was real appreciation in their eyes. There was more to it than just looking for a reason to party, and as was always the case in the land down under, once they found we were Americans, they always were appreciative and wanted to learn more about our country. I found they were very politically informed, often knowing more about our country than we did.It was always hard to leave such an atmosphere.

That evening,our bus driver bought fireworks somewhere and set them off in the parking lot.

We have real friends “Down Under.”

Everywhere I’ve gone, I’ve found most people have nothing but admiration and respect for the United States.Most look up to us for guidance and support. Many countries want to do it on their own but lack the knowledge and wherewithal  to go it alone.

They don’t all hate us like the media and the left try to tell us.

There is an extreme shortage of common sense in today’s world, When looking back in history, I soon discovered this has always been a problem, Benjamin Franklin once said, ”Of all the senses, common sense seems to be the one that is used the least.” As obvious as it may seem, many seem to be totally oblivious to it. Most, if not all of the problems the world faces today could be solved if people would just sit back and think about what would seem to be the most obvious and simple solution to any issue. Often times people tend to over complicate the issues. I often think back to what my parents and grandparents believed and said, at the time I thought they were totally out of their mind and ignored it. I now wish I would have listened and followed their advice. It is now evident they were a lot smarter than we gave them credit for. Many times, in today’s world, the schools and universities can no longer be counted on to teach truth and values that will guide someone through life.

Using God's Name in Vain

Why do so many people today, especially the young use God’s name in vain?

In today’s world the more profanity one uses the more hip or cool they are, it has become acceptable and part of many people’s normal dialogue.

There is nothing off limits anymore. In today’s “live and let live” society profanity has become an acceptable form of speech. I’ve even heard members of the clergy use profanity from the pulpit.  Anyone who is offended or voices an objection is labeled an old fogie or right wing nut job. If anything is said we are labeled as a hypocrite.

It is obvious they never had a mother like I did, or if they did , they never paid attention. To be fair , most of us use profanity at one time or another, even if it is in our most private, or what we assume our most private moments. That doesn’t excuse it, but we are all human and we all do things it would be better if we didn’t do.

I have news for you, just because one is a christian or believes in moral values and ethics doesn’t mean they are perfect and they never do anything wrong. If one is perfect, they have no need to be crawling around on this crazy planet. We all should strive to become more perfect, it is a life long journey, but it comes in stages ,not all at once. If ever.

I remember when I was young , I challenged my mother as to why I shouldn’t use profanity. She explained to me that to use profanity was using God’s name in vain, and we should worship God, not profane him.

Calling someone a son of a bit&& was not only calling Jesus’s mother a nasty word but was also giving Jesus an unkind title as he was Mary’s son.

She also believed that to call another individual a “dirty” name was to insult God, since we are all children of God, his creation.

Like everyone else, my mother probably wasn’t perfect, but she was doing her best.The rest of us should be doing the same.

Calling someone a hypocrite only justifies it in your own mind that if someone else does it, it’s ok for you to do it. Does that make any sense? If someone else jumps off a cliff, are you going to jump off a cliff?

I’m sorry, but me or anyone else is not responsible for your actions. It often comes down to “Do as I say, not as I do.”

The excessive use of profanity in today’s society is just another indication of how far we have sunk morally  as a society. We have no one to blame, not the politicians, not big business, not our parents, the only one to blame is ourselves.

There has been much debate over the years about what the founding fathers meant about the separation of church and state. The Islamic Terrorist Threat

In today’s world the greatest threat to peace we have is Islamic terrorism.

Their murderous armies are spreading world wide, even to the United States , where many have come legally, but many more have entered through the porous U.S. /Mexican border.

Many see no problem with the number of illegals who have gained access to our country, and many welcome it as a humanitarian project. Many compare it to a time when people came here from Europe for a better life and see it as a way of offering many the opportunities we all enjoy as Americans.

However, there is a huge difference between immigrants from the past and those of today. In the past, most came for a chance to improve their lives and create an environment that contributed to the American way of life which offered life,liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

In today’s environment , that is not always the case.

Many now come to live off our system, thinking they are entitled to our privileges without contributing to it. They have forgotten that with rights come responsibilities.

And sadly, many come to destroy our way of life in order to spread a religion of hate. This wave of  hate is mainly , but not always, coming from the Islamic world.

Are all Muslims hateful? Of course not. It has been estimated that about ten percent of all Muslims are extremists. Even if that figure is correct, that ten percent can out number the total population of the United States, and it only takes a few from that ten percent to create havoc on a world wide level.

It is this ten percent that is given the Islamic world a bad name. How can this be reversed and not only spare the world a future filled with terrorism, but create a better understanding of the Islamic way of life?

There is only one group of people who can do it, the Muslims themselves. They are the ones who have to stand up and be counted. Just like in the black community, they are the one’s who need to stop condoning bad behavior. They need to call out members of their own race about their unacceptable behavior. 

Bad behavior is bad behavior, it matters little what race, creed, or religion you happen to be. It is time to stop taking sides , if someone is not acting properly they need to be called out on it and appropriate action taken. 

No one can do it for the Muslim community, if someone of a different races criticizes them or makes a statement, they are only called racist and an insensitive bigot.

They need to police themselves. This is the only way the world attitude will change, these wars have been going on for thousands of years, do you really want them to continue?

We can all exist in the world community, and practice whatever religious or spiritual belief we have. We don’t need to conquer others and force them to belief as we do. 

Many times our own individual spiritual beliefs can change during a lifetime, who knows what you will believe tomorrow? As we gain in knowledge, rightfully so, our beliefs change to accommodate our newly learned information, we need to adjust our spiritual believes accordingly, it is the only way we can grow spiritually. 

Let’s create a world where that is the norm.

Bring the Past and the Future Together

Many long for the good old days, the days when life was simpler.

Anyone over the age of sixty remembers life in the 1950s, simple but good. Everyone one was poor by today’s standards, we had time to  visit our  neighbors and looked out for each other. We didn’t lock our doors , because you could trust almost everyone and we didn’t have anything of value to steal.

The only property we had that was worth anything were our guns which were stacked neatly in the kitchen corner. They weren’t loaded, but the ammunition was in the kitchen cabinet,handy if we needed it. Even a thief had enough dignity about him, that if he did come into our house, he wouldn’t steal our guns, they were needed for protection and hunting, in many cases our livelihood depended on them.

The youngsters were disciplined and lectured daily about not touching one of the guns, I wouldn’t even want to think about what would have happened to me if I touched one. I grew up in the days of playing cowboys and indians, my mom would have a fit if I even pointed a cap gun at the dog, I only did it once. She always told me not to point a gun at something unless I wanted to kill it.

There were  only a couple sheriff’s deputies in the whole county and they were probably twenty miles away, the couple times we called them because someone was stealing gas we used for the farm tractors, they didn’t come, too busy breaking up a bar fight.

It’s no different today, even if you live across the street from a police station, whatever crime an intruder commits is going to be accomplished before you can get a police officer there. The only thing the police can do is file a report and hope to catch the perpetrator later, all the while hoping no harm has come to the victim.

The American Indian lived in the past as did the Australian Aborigine along with many other native cultures. They lived in the past and present with no thought for the future. They told stories about their history to their children so they would remember. Thier connection to the earth and the creator have become the admiration of many in today’s world.

Since they never thought about their future, they had no future. they are still living today like they did several thousand years ago. They developed no technology and as a result they were overrun by people that developed all the latest and newest technology,weapons included.You snooze, you lose.

We live in the future with no thought to our past or present.  We don’t tell our children about our family culture and our history, the last thing a baby boomer wants to do is sound like one of their parents, by repeating what their parents told them. The baby boomer generation has accomplished a lot, this is one area they fell down on and never realized the consequences.

We have developed the most advanced civilization the world has ever known, at least for the last ten thousand years. Looking back  twenty years, even that minute time in history seems archaic and primitive.

Fifty years ago,none of us could even imagine what life would be like in the twenty-first century. We scoffed at the idea of going to the moon, computers were the size of a Cadillac, and we never ever ate in a restaurant.

Times have changed , even though we long for the good old days or think it would be cool living like the indians or aborigines, I really don’t know anyone who would want to live full time in a teepee or sleep in a humpie in the outback of Australia. For most of us a few days camping and we are once again ready for our air conditioned homes , our computer and the flat screen TV.

In the last forty years we have created a society unparalleled in achievement , our technology is the admiration of the world.

We have forgotten to tell our young about our past , not only our family and cultural past , but our past as a nation. Lets learn from the errors of our ancestors, let’s combine the spiritual awareness of our ancestors with the technology of the present. We can have the best of both worlds.

We need to keep the traditions alive, or we won’t have a future .

Bringing America Back

 


Rural Areas Conservative, Urban Areas Liberal

There is becoming a great divide in America. More and more people are moving off the land and into large cities, many times living in small apartments or condos and very seldom if ever  having to opportunity to reconnect with their agrarian roots.

As a result they are losing their connection with mother earth. In the process their whole line of thinking changes. Living in a urban environment naturally makes one more dependent on government services. In the process they give up their desire for freedom and the chance to make their own decisions concerning important choices in their life.

This is a gradual process and many times they don’t even notice or care until suddenly they become someone who could no longer survive on their own. Soon they have become slaves to the government and no longer free.

There is a big difference between relying on someone and become a slave to them. In an agrarian culture , neighbors rely on neighbors, sometimes out of necessity, but they are still independent and can fend for themselves, it’s a two way street, you help me , I help you. That makes it personal.

In an urban society, neighbors seldom know each other, they live next door for years and have never met. When someone needs help, they call a non-caring government agency who have sterile rules and regulations to go by.  There is nothing personal about it, people soon begin to feel as if they are living as isolationists and have no one they can personally turn to.

Soon this turns to frustration and anger, many times it is unnoticed by even the most astute, they think it has to be this way. Their values slowly change and they slowly become more dependent on a government agency who doesn’t have anyone’s interest in mind but their own self interests.

 As this slowly occurs over the years and a few generations come and go, the two groups develop different customs, beliefs and values. As the cities grow, they outnumber the people living on the land and slowly the values and ethics that made a country great disappear until many think the people living on the land are extremists and their opinions are reduced to be thought of as archaic and old fashioned.

This is how great societies die and wither away.
