The Atheist Teacher

Photography Prints

A young woman teacher explains to her class of children that she
is an atheist. She asks her class if they are atheists too. Not really
knowing what atheism is but wanting to be like their teacher, their
hands explode into the air like fleshy fireworks.

There is, however, one exception. A beautiful girl named Lucy has
not gone along with the crowd. The teacher asks her why she has
decided to be different.

“Because I’m not an atheist.”

Then, asks the teacher, what are you?

“I’m a Christian.”

The teacher is a little perturbed now, her face slightly red. She
asks Lucy why she is a Christian.

“Well, my mom is a Christian, and my dad is a Christian, so
they helped me become a Christian.”

The teacher is now angry. “That’s no reason,” she says loudly.
“What about if your mom was a moron, and your dad was a
moron. What would you be then?”

A pause, and a smile. “Then,” says Lucy, “I’d be an atheist.”

There is an extreme shortage of common sense in today’s world, When looking back in history, I soon discovered this has always been a problem, Benjamin Franklin once said, ”Of all the senses, common sense seems to be the one that is used the least.”

As simple as it may seem, many seem to be totally oblivious to it. Most if not all of the problems the world faces today could be solved if people would just sit back and think about what would seem to be the most obvious and simple solution to any issue. Often times people tend to over complicate the issues when an easy and simple solution would be obvious.

I often think back to what my parents and grandparents believed and said, at the time I thought they were totally out of their mind and ignored it. I now wish I would have listened and followed their advice more often.

It is now evident they were a lot smarter than we gave them credit. Many times, in today’s world, the schools and universities can no longer be counted on to teach truth and values that will guide someone through life.

Predicting His Son's Profession

Predicting His Son’s Profession

A Tennessee country preacher had a teenage son, and as he neared the end of high school it was getting time the boy should give some thought to choosing a profession. Like many young men, the boy didn’t really know what he wanted to do, and he didn’t seem too concerned about it.

One day, while the boy was away at school, his father decided to try an experiment. He went into the boy’s room and placed on his study desk three items: a Bible, a silver dollar, and a bottle of whiskey.

“I’ll just hide behind the door,” the old preacher said to himself, “and when he comes home from school this afternoon, I’ll see which object he picks up. If it’s the Bible, he’s going to be a preacher like me, and what a blessing that would be! If he picks up the dollar, he’s going to be a businessman, and that would be OK too. But if he picks up the bottle, he’s going to be a no-good drunkard and, Lord, what a shame that would be.”

The older man waited anxiously, and soon heard his son’s footsteps as he entered the house and headed for his room. He tossed his books on the bed, and as he turned to leave the room he spotted the three items on the desk. With curiosity in his eye, he walked over to inspect them.

Finally, he picked up the Bible and placed it under his arm. His father, watching quietly, started to silently thank the Lord. But then his son picked up the silver dollar and dropped it into his pocket, and twisted the top off the bottle and took a big drink!

“Lord have mercy,” the old man whispered, “he’s gonna be a Congressman!”

The Little Boy

A little boy walked down the beach, and as he did, he spied a matronly
woman sitting under a beach umbrella on the sand. He walked up to her
and asked, “Are you a Christian?”

“Yes.”.

“Do you read your Bible every day?”

She nodded her head, “Yes.”

Do you pray often?” the boy asked next, and again she answered, “Yes.”

With that he asked his final question, “Will you hold my quarter while
I go swimming?”

There has been much debate over the years about what the founding fathers meant about the separation of church and state. In recent times there has been much disinformation about how they actually believed, especially George Washington. In this short Ebook the author tries to explain how they actually felt.

One Sunday after church Mom asked her very young daughter
what the lesson was about.

Her daughter answered “Don’t be scared, you’ll get your quilts.”

Needless to say, mom was perplexed. Later in the day, the
Pastor stopped by for tea. Mom asked him what that morning’s
Sunday school lesson was about.

He said “Be not afraid, thy comforter is coming.”

A Penny For Your Thoughts

A young Scottish lad and lassie were sitting on a low stone wall, holding hands, and just gazing out over the loch.

For several minutes they sat silently, then finally the girl looked at the boy and said, “A penny for your thoughts, Angus.”

“Well, uh, I was thinkin’ perhaps it’s aboot time for a wee kiss.”

The girl blushed, then leaned over and kissed him. Then he blushed. Then the two turned once again to gaze out over the loch.

After a while the girl spoke again. “Another penny for your thoughts, Angus.”

“Well, uh, I was thinkin’ perhaps its aboot time for a wee cuddle.”

The girl blushed, then leaned over and cuddled him. Then he blushed. Then the two turned once again to gaze out over the loch.

After a while the girl spoke again. “Another penny for your thoughts, Angus.”

“Well, uh, I was thinkin’ perhaps its aboot time you let me poot me hand on your leg.”

The girl blushed, then took his hand and put it on her leg. Then he blushed. Then the two turned once again to gaze out over the loch.

After a while the girl spoke again. “Another penny for your thoughts, Angus.”

The young man knit his brow. “Well, now,” he said, “my thoughts are a bit more serious this time.”

“Really?” said the girl in a whisper, filled with anticipation.

“Aye,” said the lad.

The girl looked away in shyness, began to blush and bit her lip in anticipation of the ultimate request.

Angus blurted out, “Din’na ye think it’s aboot time ye paid me the first three pennies?”

Getting into Heaven

“If I sold my house and my car, had a big garage sale and
gave all my money to the church, would that get me into
Heaven?” I asked the children in my Sunday School class.

“NO!” the children all answered.

“If I cleaned the church every day, mowed the yard, and
kept everything neat and tidy, would that get me into Heaven?”

Again, the answer was, “NO!”

Well, then, if I was kind to animals and gave candy to all
the children, and loved my wife, would that get me into
Heaven?” I asked them again.

Again, they all answered, “NO!”

“Well, I continued, “then how can I get into Heaven?”

A five-year-old boy shouted out, “YOU GOTTA BE DEAD!”

Kid's Quickies

It was Palm Sunday and, because of a sore throat, five-year-old Johnny stayed home from church with a sitter. When the family returned home, they were carrying several palm branches. The boy asked what they were for. “People held them over Jesus’ head as he walked by,”

his older brother explained. “Wouldn’t you know it,” the boy fumed. “The one Sunday I don’t go, He showed up!”

One Easter Sunday morning as the minister was preaching the children’s sermon, he reached into his bag of props
and pulled out an egg. He pointed at the egg and asked the children, “What’s in here?”

“I know!” a little boy exclaimed. “Pantyhose!”

~

The prospective father-in-law asked, “Young man, can you support a family?”

The surprised groom-to-be replied, “Well, no. I was just planning to support your daughter. The rest of you will have to fend for yourselves.”

~

Little Johnny asked his grandma how old she was. Grandma answered, “39 and holding.”

Johnny thought for a moment, and then said, “And how old would you be if you let go?”

~

The Sunday School teacher asked, “Now, Johnny, tell me, do you say prayers before eating?”

“No sir,” he replied, “We don’t have to. My Mom is a good cook!”

Marine Training

Two things they teach Marines: Keep your priorities in
order Know when to act without hesitation.

A college professor, an avowed atheist, was teaching
his class. He shocked several of his students when he
flatly stated he was going to prove there was no God.

Addressing the ceiling he shouted: “God, if you are real,
then I want you to knock me off this platform. I’ll
give you 15 minutes!”

The lecture room fell silent. You could have heard a pin
fall. Ten minutes went by. Again he taunted God, saying,
“Here I am, God. I’m still waiting.”

His countdown got down to the last couple of minutes
when a Marine – just released from active duty and newly
registered in the class – walked up to the professor, hit
him full force in the face, and sent him tumbling from his
lofty platform.

The professor was out cold! The students were shocked and
babbled in confusion.

The young Marine took a seat in the front row and sat
silent. The class fell silent…waiting.

Eventually, the professor came to, shaken. He looked at
the young Marine in the front row. When the professor
regained his senses and could speak he asked: “What’s
the matter with you? Why did you do that?”

“God was busy. He sent me.”

America

America has been on a long spiral of decline for many years, not only financially, but morally, militarily and spiritual as well there are many reason for this, all of which can be traced back to one group of people, who are they?

Walking to School

Art Prints

Timmy was a little five year old boy that his Mom loved very much and,
being a worrier, she was concerned about him walking to school when he
started Kindergarten. She walked him to school the couple of days but
when he came home one day, he told his mother that he did not want
her walking him to school everyday. He wanted to be like the “big boys.”

He protested loudly,so she had an idea of how to handle it.

She asked a neighbor, Mrs. Goodnest, if she would surreptitiously follow
her son to school, at a distance behind him that he would not likely
notice, but close enough to keep a watch on him. Mrs. Goodnest said
that since she was up early with her toddler anyway, it would be a good
way for them to get some exercise as well so she agreed.

The next school day, Mrs. Goodnest and her little girl, Marcy, set out
following behind Timmy as he walked to school with another neighbor
boy he knew. She did this for the whole week.

As the boys walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs, the little
friend of Timmy noticed that this same lady was following them as
she seemed to do every day all week. Finally, he said to Timmy,
“Have you noticed that lady following us all week? Do you know her?”

Timmy nonchalantly replied, “Yea, I know who she is.”

The little friend said, “Well who is she?”

“That’s just Shirley Goodnest” Timmy said.

“Shirley Goodnest? Who is she and why is she following us?”

“Well,” Timmy explained, “every night my Mom makes me say the 23rd
Psalm with my prayers ‘cuz she worries about me so much. And in it,
the prayer psalm says, “Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me all
the days of my life,” so I guess I’ll just have to get used to it.”

The Night Before Christmas, Rednecks

The Night Before Christmas — for Rednecks

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the shack,
Not a thing was a movin’, from the front to the back.

The kids were in bed, I believe we had nine,
The wife in her curlers, was lookin’ real fine.

A cold wind was blowin’, up the holler it moaned,
All seven dogs on the porch howled and groaned.

The boys were all dreamin’ of weapons and guns,
For killin’ God’s creatures, there’s no better fun.

The girls in their feminine dreams were attuned,
To getting those gallons of Walmart perfume.

The wife wanted jewelry, like rings with big rocks,
I wanted my Chevy, down off the blocks.

Then in the yard, such a noise did commence,
Like something was caught in the barb-wire fence.

I ran to the window, and saw pretty quick,
The man makin’ the racket was Good Ol’ St. Nick.

You may think of Santa, in your own mind’s eye,
Dressed in a red and white suit, But I’ve got a surprise.

That old boy’s an Arkie, our fair state he won’t fail’er,
He married his cousin, and they live in a trailer.

On Christmas, of course, a sleigh for his rig,
He hooks the thing up, to a razorback pig.

He climbed on the roof, with his bag full of goodies,
He backed down the fireplace, all dirty and sooty.

Fat legs in his britches, chubby hands in his mittens,
I admit from the back, he looked like Bill Clinton.

He turned toward the tree, His eyes all aglow,
He was a Southern boy, from his head to his toe.

His neck was a red one, his shirt said “Light Beer”,
There was no red hat, his cap read “John Deere”.

He left all the presents, with an air of delight,
Then it was back to the chimney, and into the night.

He ran into the yard, and threw his bag in the sleigh,
Then he yelled at the dogs, to get out of the way.

And I heard him exclaim, as those pigs took to flight,
“Merry Christmas to all, And to all …A Bud Lite!”
