The Bar Bully

A guy is sitting in a bar, just staring at his drink. A half-hour later, he’s still there, staring at his drink, and hasn’t drunk a drop.

Suddenly a bully steps up to the bar, takes the guy’s drink, and gulps it all down.

The poor man starts crying.

“Oh, come on, man!” the bully says. “I was just joking! Here, I’ll buy you another drink. I can’t stand to see a man cry.”

“This day is the worst of my life,” the man says, mopping at his tears with his sleeve. “First, I got fired for oversleeping and getting to work late. I was only three months from vesting my pension! Then, as I’m leaving the building, I find out my car was stolen. I get in a cab to return home and I forget my wallet and credit cards in the cab. Then, I go inside and find my wife in bed with my best friend!”

“That is rough,” the bully admits.

“There’s more!” the dejected man says. “So I end up at this bar, and just when I was mustering up the courage to put an end to my life, you show up and drink my poison!”

Besides visiting most of the United States, he has traveled to such places as Egypt, the Canary Islands, much of the Caribbean. In today’s world, many resort to abusing drugs and alcohol, why are so many becoming addicted and not only destroying their lives but the lives of others around them?

 

A String Walks into a Bar

A string walked into a bar, hopped on the barstool, and said, “Bartender, gimme a beer.” The bartender said, “I’m sorry, sir, we don’t serve strings here.”

Disappointed, the string hopped down from the stool and went to the next bar. He hopped on the barstool and said, again, “Bartender, gimme a beer.” The bartender said, “I’m sorry sir, we don’t serve strings here.”

The string continued down the row of bars in this fashion. At every bar, he hopped on the barstool and said, “Bartender, gimme a beer.” The bartender at every bar in turn said, “I’m sorry sir, we don’t serve strings here.”

Finally he got to the last bar in the area. He was tired, he was sweaty, all he wanted was a beer. He trudged inside, climbed on the barstool, and said, “Bartender, gimme a beer.” This bartender, too, said, “I’m sorry, sir, we don’t serve strings here.”

Tired and angry, the string walked outside to think. He was a hard-working string. He deserved a beer. Finally, he came up with an idea. He had a passerby tie him up into a bow and frazzle his ends. Then he went back into the bar, and climbed up on the barstool. “Bartender, gimme a beer!” he said loudly.

The bartender looked him over critically, and finally yelled, “Hey, aren’t you that string that was in here a few minutes ago?”

The string replied coolly, “Nope, I’m a frayed knot.”

The Drunk Trickster

The Empire State Building

A man gets off the elevator at the bar on top of the Empire State Building. He is bowled over by the splendor and the view. He orders a drink, and then remarks about how there’s a large open window with no guardrails or anything — someone could fall a long way!

“There’s no problem with that, it’s completely safe!” says a man dressed in a sharp suit, glasses and a fedora. “Even if you fell out, the building creates a strong updraft current that will bring you right back to safety!”

“Huh?” the man says, incredulous.

“Sure, let me show you!” the man at the bar says, stepping to the window and allowing himself to fall right out.

“Oh my gosh!” says the newcomer. He bends over to look out the window to see what happened just as the man comes back up in the wind, right into the window, and lands right on his feet! Even his fedora is still firmly in place.

“That’s amazing!” he says. “Does it happen like that all the time?”

“Yep, I’ve done it many times,” says the square-jawed man. He offers to hold the newcomer’s drink while he tries it.

“Here goes nothing,” the newbie says. He leans out the window and falls out of the building — and all the way to the street where he goes Splat! The man in the suit says “tsk tsk tsk” and drinks the man’s cocktail.

“You know,” the bartender finally says to the regular, “you’re really a mean bastard when you’re drunk, Superman.”
